Trump Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

(RepublicanDaily.org) – Former president Donald Trump has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize after a Republican representative from New York submitted the name of former chief executive for consideration for the award, citing Trump’s “historic” efforts to broker the Abraham Accords peace treaty in the Middle East.

The nomination was put forward by Republican New York Representative Claudia Tenney, who said that the former president was “instrumental in facilitating” the creation a modern-day peace accord in the Middle East, a feat that she said has not been accomplished in the last three decades. She added that Trump proved that it was a myth that a resolution of the conflict between Israel and Pakistan was absolutely needed in order for there to be peace in the region. Tenney also claimed that there was a precedent for awarding Trump the Nobel Peace Prize, given that the awarding body recognized the 1978 peace treaty between Israel and Egypt, as well as the 1994 Oslo Accords.

Tenney also said that Trump’s nomination for the award was particularly significant this time around, given what she claimed was President Joe Biden’s “weak leadership on the international stage.” Biden’s actions and initiatives, she added pose a serious threat to America’s security and safety.

As such, “we must recognize Trump for his strong leadership and his efforts to achieve world peace,” the New York representative said.

The nomination marks the fourth time the Trump’s name has been submitted for consideration for the Nobel Peace Prize. He was first nominated in 2020 by a member of Norway’s parliament, Christian Tybring-Gjedde, who said that then-president Trump was highly involved in resolving various conflicts around the globe. Next was a couple of months later when Laura Huhtasaari – a member of the European Parliament (MEP) and a prominent member of the right-wing Swedish Finns Party – submitted Trump’s name for the 2021 awards. Huhtasaari cited reasons similar to that of Tybring-Gjedde, adding that the former president also supposedly played a key role in establishing economic relations between Kosovo and Serbia. A group of legislators from Australia also nominated him for the award in the same year, citing Trump’s efforts to reduce “America’s tendency to get involved in any and every war.”
