Rapper Accused of Holding Woman Captive for Four Years

(RepublicanDaily.org) – A Houston man has been arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping for allegedly holding a homeless woman captive in his garage for four to five years.

Police arrested 52-year-old Lee Arthur Carter, after responding to a 911 call telling authorities that he had been kidnapped and held against her will. Law enforcement and first responders made a forced entry into the home and found the woman severely malnourished and pregnant as well.

The woman, who was not identified, told police that she had also been repeatedly raped by Carter, who is also a local rapper who goes by the name “Viper.” She only weighed 70lbs at the time of her rescue and exuded a “putrid” stench. The woman also said that Carter barely let her leave the garage, and only allowed her to shower on rare occasions. He also did not feed her properly, leaving her to subsist on the chips and Twinkie bars he gave her. Police said that the garage was in an extremely unsanitary state, with a makeshift toilet that did not flush, and the mattress the woman was forced to sleep in was filled with vomit.

The woman also said that she attempted to escape her captivity several times, but Carter always managed to find her and bring her back. She said that he also forced her to take illegal drugs to render her unable to escape. She told her rescuers that she was able to sneak out and use the suspect’s computer to contact 911. The garage she was kept in initially had windows, but they had been boarded up from the outside, in an obvious attempt to keep the victim from escaping. The suspect also took steps to prevent the garage door from being opened.

In addition, further investigation of the suspect’s home also yielded the remains of another woman, 61-year-old Catherine Roberts. NBC News reported that a neighbor said that Roberts had been the previous occupant of the garage where Carter’s captive was found. According to the medical examiner’s report, Roberts’ cause of death was alcoholic liver disease and hepatitis C, along with complications caused by internal bleeding.

Carter has since posted $100,000 bail and is currently out of the Harris Country Jail, where he was initially brought after his arrest.
