(RepublicanDaily.org) – Chris Gauthier, most known for his roles on fantasy, horror, and science fiction TV shows such as “Once Upon a Time,” “Supernatural,” and “Eureka,” has passed away at the age of 48.
Representatives of the actor confirmed the news of his death to media outlets.
The cause of Gauthier’s death was cited as a “brief illness,” but no other details were provided. TriStar Appearances / Event Horizon Talent, which represents the actor, said that both his colleagues in the profession as well as his fans feel Gauthier’s loss deeply. His reps also asked for privacy for his family.
Chad Colvin, Gauthier’s agent, posted a tribute for the actor on social media, saying that the loss “doesn’t feel real.”
“A world without you in it is a much darker place,” Colvin wrote. The agent said that Gauthier’s wife was the one who informed him of the tragic news, which caused him, he said, to cry “for hours.”
Raphael Sbarge, who worked with Gauthier on “Once Upon a Time” – Gauthier played “Smee,” derived from the right-hand man of Peter Pan’s Captain Hook – also posted a tribute to her co-star on social media, describing him as a “consummate character, generosity and great talent.” She said that admired his caring and kind attitude and the way he pursued his art.
Besides his credit as Smee in Once Upon A Time, he also appeared in shows such as “Joe Pickett,” and “A Series of Unfortunate Events.” He was also a part of several Hallmark movies such as “Ms. Christmas Comes to Town.” His IMDB page also lists appearances in films such as “Watchmen,” “Freddy vs. Jason,” “40 Days and 40 Nights,” “Three Wise Men and a Baby,” and more. He was also a part of TV series such as “Charmed”, “Next,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” and “Sanctuary.”
