Michelle Obama’s Mother Passes Away

(RepublicanDaily.org) – Former first lady Michelle Obama’s mother, Marian Robinson, has passed away. She was 86.

Her death was confirmed by members of her family, who said that she passed away peacefully in her home city of Chicago.

“She was beloved beyond words by countless others —,“ read a joint statement released by the Obama and Robinson families, “— whose lives were improved by her presence.”

Both the former president and the former first lady also spoke of the loss on social media.

“There was and will be only one Marian Robinson,” Mr. Obama said in a post on Twitter/X. “We will spend the rest of ours trying to live up to her example.”

“My mom Marian Robinson was my rock,” Mrs. Obama posted in turn, adding that she and her family are heartbroken by the loss of a strong source of support.

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden also sent their condolences on Robinson’s loss, saying that she was a constant reminder that America is a “great nation because we are a good people.”

The Obama and Robinson families also received words of support from personalities such as Magic Johnson, Dr. Bernice A. King, Reverend Al Sharpton, Billie Jean King, and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center.

Robinson stayed in the White House during Mr. Obama’s tenure as president, and was frequently seen with the former first family at various events, such as the White House’s annual Easter egg roll, or Halloween, where she would hand out treats. A number of people who worked with and for the Obama’s during the Obama administration lauded Robinson for maintaining a down-to-earth and approachable attitude. David Axelrod, a former senior adviser to Mr. Obama, recalled how Robinson “did not take to the whole celebrity lifestyle”, adding that Robinson would sometimes sneak out of the White House by herself and meet with friends.

Mrs. Obama is one of the only two children her mother left behind, along with her brother Craig Robinson. The family’s patriarch, Fraser Robinson, passed away back in 1991 due to multiple sclerosis.
