Judge Rules on Barron Trump’s Graduation

(RepublicanDaily.org) – A federal judge has given former president Donald Trump permission to attend his son Barron’s high school graduation ceremony.

After putting off the decision to rule on Trump’s petition to have May 17 off to attend his son’s graduation rites, Judge Juan Merchan finally said that “I don’t think the May 17 date is a problem.” It is unclear though, if Trump will be allowed to not appear for court on that day or proceedings in his “hush money” case will be paused temporarily in his absence.

Merchan had previously said that he would not delay Trump’s trial for any reason. The former president also speculated that he would not be allowed to attend Barron’s graduation. The judge had also previously barred the former president from attending the Supreme Court oral arguments over his claims of presidential immunity, which is primarily related to another lawsuit – this time a federal indictment over the events leading to and surrounding the January 6, 2021 riot in the Capitol.

“It looks like the judge isn’t going to allow me to escape this scam,” Trump said early last month when proceedings began. He also claimed that Democrats were scheming to keep him from his son’s graduation – and from campaigning across the country.

“It’s [keeping him occupied with his legal problems] perfect for the radical left Democrats. It’s exactly what they want,” Trump said.

The billionaire businessman and former commander-in-chief is currently on trial for the supposed “hush money” from campaign funds that he paid former adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Daniels alleged that the two had an affair – which Trump vehemently denies – but prosecutors allege that Trump paid her $130,000 to keep silent about it anyway, in an attempt to prevent damage to his eventually successful 2016 presidential run.

Barron is Trump’s youngest son his wife Melania. The boy is set to graduate high school from Oxbridge Academy, a private high school located close to the former chief executive’s Mar-a-Lago luxury resort in West Palm Beach, Florida.
