Donald Trump Says There Are Three Exceptions for Abortion

(RepublicanDaily.org) – In a rare break from established and traditional conservative views, former president Donald Trump has signaled that he is willing to concede three exceptions that will allow women to get an abortion, The Daily Caller reported.

The news outlet cited an interview the former chief executive did with Sid Rosenberg, a radio host for 77 WABC, where Trump said that in cases of incest, rape, and endangerment of the life mother, “you have to” allow abortions.

Trump further claimed that what was not acceptable to him or “anybody” was the “radical” belief that abortions should be allowed “in the ninth month, and even after the baby is born.”

The former commander-in-chief also bemoaned the lack of standards for abortion that he said other “civilized countries in the world” have.

“Other civilized countries in the world… they have standards. And that’s what we have to have,” he said.

The former chief executive also stressed that a hardline stance on abortion would make it hard for Republicans to win the elections. In an interview last year on NBC’s “Meet the Press”, Trump bluntly told abortion hardliners running for office that they’re “not going to win” if they refuse to compromise on the issue of abortion. Trump then said that both sides would need to come to an agreement on “a number of weeks or months or however you want to define it,” when getting and abortion would be allowable.

More recently, the former president has given a clearer definition of that number, saying that he will support a national ban on abortions at roughly 15 weeks of pregnancy.

Following the overturning of the Roe vs. Wade ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2022, Trump has styled himself – among other things – as a champion of pro-life groups, given that three of the justices that comprise the high court’s conservative supermajority were appointed by him.
