Crazy Town Frontman Dies at 49

( – Shifty Shellshock, the frontman for the band Crazy Town, has passed away at the age of 49.

Reports say that the singer was found dead in his Los Angeles home in after someone stopped by his residence. The singer – whose real name was Seth Binzer – had reportedly been dead for at least 24 hours when his body was found. Some reports also indicate that drug paraphernalia was found near his body. Sources say that police are looking into the death as possibly caused by a drug overdose.

Binzer has been very open on social media regarding his long-term struggle and fight with substance abuse.

“I’m a lover than a fighter …but the one I need to love more Instead of fight with is myself… mr shifty true Love # Sober alive and grateful,” read a post by Binzer on Instagram that he put up in late April.

Even way back in 2008 he made appearances in the shows “Sober House” and “Celebrity Rehab” on VH1 where he spoke up about the challenges he faced as an addict.

In recent years however, Binzer was making the tabloid headlines – for the wrong reasons. In mid-2023 Binzer was caught on video brawling with band mate Bobby Reeves, supposedly over an issue with money. “You stole from me!”, Binzer is seen yelling at Reeves after punching him several times. A few days later, he was arrested for driving under the influence.

Binzer formed the rap rock band Crazy Town in 1995 with Bret “Epic” Mazur, and were joined by several other members throughout the years that included Charles Lopez, DJ Rick One, Mark White, and Adam Bravin. The group is most known for their 2000 hit, “Butterfly”, which reached the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 charts. The song also catapulted their 1999 album that contained the song, “The Gift of Game” to sell over 1.6 million units. The band came out with “Darkhorse” a few years later, but it failed to reach the former album’s level of success, leading to the group’s disbanding.

Binzer and Mazur reformed the band in 2007 and released another album called “The Brimstone Sluggers” in 2015. Mazur left the band two years later, and Binzer renamed the band as Crazy Town X.
