(RepublicanDaily.org) – A fatal shooting incident at a Chick-Fil-A restaurant in Texas has been attributed to a foreign national who is in the country illegally.
The suspect was identified as 37-year-old Oved Bernardo Mendoza Argueta, a native of El Salvador. Argueta is an asylum seeker but also is in the country illegally, according to records of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
On June 28, police said that Argueta made a “targeted” attack on the Chick-Fil-A restaurant in Irving, Texas, killing two employees in the process. The incident is still being investigated and the motive for the shooting has yet to be determined.
The victims were identified as 49-year-old Patricia Portillo, and 31-year-old Brayan Alexis Godoy. Argueta was positively identified as the shooter by a witness, Mendoza Argueta, another employee of the Chick-Fil-A branch who also happens to be the suspect’s spouse.
ICE has since issued an “ICE hold” or “detainer” against the suspect following his arrest the morning after the murders. Detainers are orders issued by ICE that are used to “identify and remove” criminal illegal aliens who are in the custody of local law enforcement authorities.
Argueta’s double murder is not the first brutal crime committed by an illegal immigrant in Texas this month – a few weeks ago, the battered remains of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray were found in a bayou in Houston Texas. Two suspects have since been arrested and charged with capital murder. The two were identified as 26-year-old Franklin Jose Pena Ramos and 21-year-old Johan Jose Rangel Martinez. Police say that the two men, who are illegal immigrants from Venezuela, lured the victim under a bridge where they proceeded to rape her for two hours.
In New York City, a 13-year-old girl was raped in broad daylight by 25-year-old suspect Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, who reportedly held the victim – along with another boy – at knifepoint before sexually assaulting the girl and even filming the heinous act. Landi is another illegal immigrant who hails from Ecuador. He was eventually caught through the efforts of the incensed local community, who gave him a sound thrashing before handing him over to law enforcement.
