Border Patrol Kills Bandit for Robbing Migrants

(RepublicanDaily.org) – The Border Patrol reported that its forces shot and killed a bandit victimizing migrants looking to enter the U.S.

Fox News reported that several of its sources from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection said that the incident occurred in Chula Vista, California, along America’s border with Mexico. Agents belonging to the Border Patrol were dispatched to the place where the incident occurred after receiving reports that bandits were attacking migrants in the area. The robber was shot by a member of the Border Patrol’s tactical unit, BORTAC.

Aside from the dangerous physical trek to the border, migrants seeking to cross into the U.S. also have to contend with attacks from bandits, who steal and mug them before escaping back across the border into Mexico for safety.

The criminal was not alone, and his partners managed to escape back across the border. The bandit was the only casualty and no Border Patrol agents were injured during the encounter.

Jason Owens, the current chief of the Border Patrol, shared images of armed robbers mugging migrants attempting to enter the U.S. illegally on Twitter / X, as he warned against the danger presented by these criminals not only to migrants, but to the American public and Border Patrol agents.

In addition to the problems presented by the sheer number of migrants looking to enter the U.S. under the premise of seeking humanitarian asylum, security along the border has also been a cause for concern for many.

Raul Ortiz, who served as chief of the Border Patrol under the Biden administration until he retired in May last year, said that “the cartels, [and] the criminal organizations,” benefit the most from the chaos at the border. Ortiz said the situation is further complicated by legal battles between some border states, such as Texas, and the White House over jurisdictional issues regarding border security and the state’s authority to deal with – and deport – migrants it catches in its territory.
