Biden Rejects Invitation to Testify

( – President Joe Biden has snubbed an invitation from the House of Representative for him to testify as part the House GOP’s impeachment inquiry.

Apparently, as far as the White House is concerned, House Republicans’ effort to impeach the president is “over,” according to Special Counsel to the President Richard Sauber.

In a letter addressed to Republican Kentucky Representative and House Oversight Chair James Comer, Sauber, in no uncertain terms, said that the White House is declining the invitation for the president to testify.

“Your impeachment investigation is over,” Sauber’s letter read. The special counsel also stressed that the president “has done nothing wrong” and that he refuses to participate in the “partisan charade” House GOP members have made of their impeachment investigation.

Furthermore, Sauber pointed out that Comer and his cohorts have made the same claims against the president over and over again, despite these claims having been “repeatedly debunked and refuted by the very witnesses” they have called to testify before the House Oversight Committee.

In a statement in response to the letter, Rep. Comer said that it was “unfortunate” that Biden declined to answer the “very simple, straightforward questions” House Republicans included in the invitation to testify.

At least in terms of their impeachment efforts, House Republicans are in a pickle, as they have yet to uncover of disclose any hard evidence that could push their investigation to the next level. In addition, the GOP in the House also has to contend with its very slim majority over Democrats, on top of squabbling among their ranks.

More and more Republicans are also beginning to express skepticism that the House’s impeachment inquiry into Biden will bear any fruit. Axios reported that according to one House Republican they spoke to, anywhere from 40 to 50 Republican representatives are likely to vote with Democrats against impeaching Biden.

“I don’t think it’ll go to the floor,” another member of the House GOP told the news outlet.
