Biden Makes Pit Stop in Tampa

(RepublicanDaily.org) – Abortion rights were the top talking point of President Joe Biden during a campaign stop in Tampa, Florida.

The 81-year-old chief executive, who is gunning for a second term in the White House, set his sights on his predecessor and presumptive Republican Party presidential nominee Donald Trump, blaming the latter for imminent abortion law in Florida that would prohibit abortions for pregnancies that have progressed for more than six weeks.

According to Biden, America’s women are experiencing a “healthcare crisis” thanks to Trump and conservatives’ efforts. Speaking to the crowd at the Hillsborough Community College, Biden is banking on a push against the conservative policies espoused by the state’s governor, Ron DeSantis, as well as many GOP representatives from the Sunshine State. His remarks also coincide with an upcoming vote where Floridians will decide whether or not to codify abortion rights into the Florida state constitution.

The president also pointed the finger at Trump for the reversal of Roe vs. Wade in 2022. During his tenure, Trump was responsible for the appointment of three conservative judges to the Supreme Court — Neil Gorsuch in 2017, Brett Kavanaugh in 2018, and Amy Coney Barrett in 2020 – creating the current conservative supermajority in the country’s highest court.

Many Republicans were unhappy with President Biden after he made the sign of the cross during such an event.

Furthermore, Biden, who has often touted his student loan forgiveness plan, also tried to appeal to younger voters by promising that he would work towards making community college free if he gets reelected.

Florida is a critical state for Biden if he wants to win against Trump later this year – the last time they went up against each other, Florida saw Biden lose by 3.3 percentage points to the former president. The president is also seeming to take advantage of the fact that Trump is not on the campaign trail as much in recent weeks, given his required appearances at his “hush money” trial in Manhattan.
