Attorney and Wife Killed by Another Attorney

(RepublicanDaily.org) – A law firm in Las Vegas, Nevada became the grisly site of a murder-suicide that saw a man and a woman gunned down, with the shooter taking his own life shortly after.

The victims were identified as 57-year old lawyer Dennis Prince and his wife, 30-year-old Ashley Prince were shot by another attorney, identified as Joe Houston, 77 years old, who then turned the gun on himself and committed suicide.

The shooting reportedly occurred during a child custody deposition at the Summerlin law firm, located inside the City National Bank building. Houston was representing his son, Dylan Houston, who was in a custody dispute with Ashley Prince, who used to be married to Dylan. Dylan and Ashley filed for divorce in 2021, and the legal dispute arose when Ashley sought sole custody of their two children, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

Other details on the shooting have not been released by police investigators as of press time, but multiple sources have confirmed the identity of the victims. Dennis Prince was a prominent local attorney who had multiple connections throughout the city, including with Aaron Ford, Nevada’s attorney general.

In a post on X / Twitter, Ford said that he was devastated by Prince’s death.

“Dennis Prince was not only a brilliant attorney,” Ford said of the deceased attorney and his former law partner, whom he said he considered to be his friend. “I can’t believe he’s gone,” Ford wrote.

Reports indicate that Houston was suffering from terminal cancer prior to the deposition hearing. A Fox News report cites Robert Eglet, a close friend and former law partner of Houston, who said that the shooter confided in him a few days before the incident.

“Joe [Houston] told me this not long before the shooting that he was dying of terminal cancer,” Eglet told the news outlet.

“Makes me wonder if he felt like he had nothing to lose,” he added.
