AOC Called Out for “Abandoning” New York

(RepublicanDaily.org) – New York City Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, or more commonly known as AOC, is apparently losing popularity among her constituents in the New York City district she represents, with several – including one who directly supported her campaign – expressing dismay at supposed the lack of work the congresswoman is doing for her district.

In Fox News’ “Fox and Friends” segment, host Rachel Campos-Duffy went around AOC’s district, asking people what they thought of their outspoken and ultra-progressive representative.

Ocasio-Cortez represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, which encompasses areas in the Bronx and Queens.

She is never here,” one woman, who said she was once a volunteer for AOC’s campaign, told Campos-Duffy.

Another man told Fox News that the liberal representative only needs to walk around her district to see “all the garbage, [and] all the people getting robbed.”

“We would ask her to do her job… a better job”, the man said, “of taking care of this neighborhood.”

Yet another man told Fox News that he is seeing “more crime… robberies, [and] a lot of crackheads” in his area. He also lamented that there is “so much immigration” in the city, thanks to President Joe Biden and his illegal immigration-friendly policies, which he said he believes has contributed to what he feels is an increase of crime in the city.

Others blast AOC for not doing anything to fight for the small businesses in her district, many of whom have been forced to close their doors in recent months. Local businesses have to contend with dirt-cheap prices from illegal street vendors and illegal flea markets, who not only skip on paying taxes, but also contribute to the trash that have lined many neighborhoods in Ocasio-Cortez’s district.

“Brick-and-mortar businesses are suffering a lot,” Ramses Frias told Campos-Duffy. Frias is a Democrat, who is also running for the seat for New York City’s District 39 in the state assembly. He also said that the trash situation is a hygiene and health hazard for residents.

In response, AOC blamed “anti-immigrant” legislation, which she claimed prevents immigrants from securing proper jobs in the city, whose population is close to 8 million people.
