Trump Says He’ll Declassify Assassination Investigation if Elected

(RepublicanDaily.org) – Former president Donald Trump has said that he would be willing to fling the doors open on the investigation into the attempted assassination against him, and would declassify the inquiry in to the events surrounding Thomas Matthew Crook’s failed attempt at his life should he win the presidency.

“There should be nothing to hide here,” Trump said during an interview, where he was also accompanied by his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance. Trump did not mention – nor has he ever, to date – any of the conspiracy theories surrounding the incident. He has instead brought up the lapses in security as well as the poor response time of law enforcement and Secret Service to reports that Crooks was a possible threat.

The former president said that “many things are known right now” regarding the shooting.

More details on the attempt on the former chief executive’s life have indeed come to light, which has culminated in the resignation of Secret Service chief Kimberly Cheatle. Cheatle was largely uncooperative during the congressional hearing on the shooting – which while failing to kill Trump, cost the life of a father of two and critically injured two others. The former Secret Service director’s demeanor during the inquiry also prompted many Republican lawmakers to call for her removal, with some saying that they would file articles of impeachment against her.

In her resignation letter, Cheatle admitted that there were security lapses during the event, which included poor coordination with local law enforcement units deployed to help boost security. Cheatle said that the Secret Service had fallen short of its mission to protect the country’s leaders. The former director said that while she continues to be dedicated to the agency, she was stepping down due to mounting calls for her to do so, as well as to remove distractions to the “great work” the Secret Service does day in and day out.
