Star Actor Pleads Guilty to Jan. 6 Charges

(RepublicanDaily.org) – A voice actor who used to be a mainstay in the hit TV cartoon “Bob’s Burgers” has pleaded guilty to charges related to his participation in the January 6, 2021 riots in the Capitol.

Jay Johnston, who was the voice behind the show’s one-time antagonist, Jimmy Pesto, pled guilty to a charge of felony civil disorder, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced this coming October 7 by U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols. Johnston was arrested in June 2023 and is part of a massive group of 1,400 defendants who were charged by the government in relation to their participation in the riot.

Prosecutors accused Johnston, who is also said to be an associate of Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes, of being a part of a mass of rioters pushing against riot police who were dispatched to quell the supposed insurrection in the Capitol. The voice actor was accused of stealing a riot shield which he used to push against law enforcement officers tasked to keep the peace that day.

Johnston was initially seen in footage of the rally filming the events that transpired, but evidence also later showed several images and videos of the voice actor as part of a group pushing against riot police, and even coordinating the crowd by chanting “Heave, ho!”

Evidence presented by the FBI also showed a text message sent by Johnston confirming his participation in the riots, where he was forced to admit that the protest action “kind of turned into” an attack and a “mess”. He also related that he experienced being maced and being exposed to tear gas – an experience he described in the text message as being “quite untastic.”

Johnston lost his role in “Bob’s Burgers” after the show’s producers and co-stars found out about his participation in the riots.
