(RepublicanDaily.org) – Hunter Schafer, the 25-year-old actress most known for her role in the hit TV drama series “Euphoria,” was arrested along with dozens of others after more a hundred protesters stormed the lobby of the 30 Rockefeller Plaza building in Manhattan.
Schafer and her fellow protesters were calling for a cease-fire in Gaza, and chose the building as it was the headquarters of the NBC TV studio, which President Joe Biden was visiting that day for a guest appearance on the late night talk show “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
Protesters, the young actress included, were sporting black shirts that were emblazoned with common pro-Palestine slogans that read “Ceasefire now!” and “Not in Our Name.” The activists were also chanting slogans such as “Let Gaza live!” and “No more weapons, no more war!” as the president’s motorcade approached the building.
Also wearing a face mask like many others who were part of the protest, Schafer was also part of a group holding up a large sign that read, “Jews to Biden: Stop Arming Genocide.” The actress and fellow activists who were arrested were charged with trespassing and are set to appear in court sometime in March. Around 30 people were arrested in the incident.
As of press time, Schafer, nor any of her representatives, have issued a statement on her arrest.
Sonya Meyerson-Knox, a member of the group Jewish Voice for Peace that organized the protest, said in a statement that it supports Schafer and commends the actress for her “commitment to Palestinian freedom.”
Meanwhile, President Biden has said that he is optimistic that a cease-fire in Gaza will be reached in the coming days. “I hope by the end of the weekend… we’ll have a cease-fire,” he told reporters waiting after his guest appearance finished taping.
Schafer plays the role of “Jules” in the HBO teen drama.
