Why Nancy Pelosi’s Freezer Gaffe Was More Than an Innocent Mistake

(RepublicanDaily.org) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is no stranger to a gaffe. However, her virtual interview with comedian James Corden in April of this year provided perhaps the most jaw-dropping misjudgment she’s ever made.

At a time when millions of Americans were facing the prospect of financial ruin because of COVID-19, Pelosi decided to tell the world about her love for chocolate and candy. She proceeded to show the camera her massive fridge and freezer, the latter of which was full of expensive ice cream. The most cringe-worthy quote of all was her admission that she didn’t know “what [she] would have done if ice-cream were not invented.”

The Democrats attract a huge portion of their support by painting themselves as friends of low earners and disadvantaged communities, and Pelosi is no exception. Of course, they’re still politicians, drawing huge salaries and wielding massive power. This incident showed just how distant the connection between Pelosi and the people she claims to represent truly is.
