Whoopi Goldberg Attacks Media for Releasing Footage of Uvalde Shooting

Whoopi Goldberg FLIPS on Media After Controversial Video Is Released

(RepublicanDaily.org) – The school shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, was the worst event of its kind since the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut in 2012. Nineteen students and two teachers lost their lives on May 24, and the graphic event continues to send shockwaves around the world.

Recently, a newspaper, the Austin American-Statesman, made the decision to release surveillance footage shot inside the school on the day of the shooting. Now, some people are unhappy over this material being available for public consumption.

What Happened Inside Robb Elementary?

The released video, which runs for 77 minutes, shows 18-year-old gunman Salvador Ramos entering the building before going on his murderous rampage throughout the school. It also shows him entering a classroom. Heavily armed police can be seen waiting around for over an hour before engaging the shooter. The officers were carrying tear gas, a sledgehammer, and gas masks.

According to reports, officials struggled to come to an agreement about whether or not to release the footage. Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) was among those who were in favor of disseminating it, with the Uvalde County District Attorney opposing the move.

The publication of the video follows extended controversy about the police response to the shooting on the day. As the video shows, officers delayed considerably before eventually taking down Salvador Ramos. Additionally, one officer allegedly had the chance to stop the shooter before he entered the school, upon seeing him approach the building with a weapon.

Whoopi Goldberg Makes Her Voice Heard on “The View”

On Wednesday, July 13, “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg sounded off on the situation. The noted liberal attacked the Statesman, the newspaper that published the footage, over its decision, claiming she was on the side of the victims’ parents, who were not in favor of the footage becoming public.

Goldberg criticized the paper for defending its decision, calling it “indefensible.” She reminded viewers the families of the victims would have had the chance to see the video regardless of the Statesman’s decision to “leak it.” The actress went on to express her sympathy for parents who now had to relive their children’s deaths “on television.” The host concluded her rant by pretending to spit.

What do you think? Is Whoopi Goldberg correct, or does the general public have a right to see the footage of what happened in Robb Elementary that fateful day?
