White House Pulls Nomination for Controversial Biden Pick

(RepublicanDaily.org) – Some of Joe Biden’s picks for cabinet positions and senior administration roles have caused controversy and attracted criticism from Conservatives. However, until this week, none had been so unpopular that he was forced to look elsewhere for a candidate.

On Tuesday, March 2, the White House announced Neera Tanden had withdrawn her nomination for the job of leading the Office of Management and Budget. This followed an objection to her nomination by Democrat Senator Joe Manchin (WV) on February 19.

Manchin, a moderate Democrat who’s viewed as a swing vote in the Senate, objected to partisan comments she’d made in the past. Several Republicans made statements to the same effect, thwarting any hope for the president that a conservative senator might have crossed party lines to confirm Tanden.

While the politicians remained formal and polite in their criticism of Tanden, Twitter was a bit more opinionated.

Joe Biden has said he’s looking forward to having Tanden “serve in a role” within his administration. This indicates he’ll possibly redirect her to a job that does not require Senate approval.
