Visa CAVES – Democrats Celebrate Horrifying Victory
(RepublicanDaily.org) – Several large-scale mass shooting events this year have reignited the debate around gun control in the United States. Many Democrats are more determined than ever to change Second Amendment rules and make it more difficult for Americans to buy and possess firearms. Now, the party has enlisted the assistance of payments processor Visa in this effort.
Democratic state lawmakers in New York, alongside Governor Kathy Hochul (D), have been campaigning for payment processors to flag potentially questionable sales of guns and ammunition involving their accounts and systems for a number of months. On Saturday, September 10, Visa revealed it would create a new category for weapon sales. Guns and bullets currently fall under a general goods class on Visa’s system. This new grouping will be in line with the International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) new guidelines in this area.
Advocates say it will help to identify problematic purchases. Detractors believe it is unfairly targeting the entire weapons industry, most of which serves law-abiding gun owners.

Mastercard and American Express have also announced they will implement these new categorization standards.
The National Rifle Association (NRA) was among the conservative groups to criticize the new classification system, saying it would not promote safety but simply erase the Constitutional rights of gun owners.
