(RepublicanDaily.org) – Relations between Iran and the US have been difficult over the last several months. On Wednesday, October 7, there was a fresh development in the story.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) revealed the United States had seized 92 internet domains that were under the control of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). These websites had been posting pro-Iranian propaganda and disinformation.
Four of the websites targeted the US. They presented themselves as legitimate news publications but were anything but. The other domains, also posing as news sites, were aimed at audiences in Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

The IRGC is a designated terrorist organization. There’s evidence the group has ties to other major extremist organizations, including the Taliban and Hamas.
Following the military engagement between American and Iranian forces earlier this year, this development will only put further strain on the relationship. Given the COVID-19 pandemic and the violent tensions on home soil, this is a headache the White House could do without.
