Tucker Carlson Leaves Fox; Don Lemon Fired from CNN

(RepublicanDaily.org) – Tucker Carlson has parted ways with Fox News following the settlement of a defamation lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems, the election equipment system used in the 2020 Presidential cycle. Carlson’s departure was announced by the Fox network on Monday, and his departure would be “immediate,” CNBC reported.

When the show host and the network parted ways, Fox thanked Carlson for his “service” as a “host” and before that a “contributor,” CNBC reported. CNBC stated that Fox would not comment on the departure choice or whether Carlson was being taken off air in “response” to the outcome of the Dominion defamation case.

Following his departure, Democrats and left-leaning media outlets criticized Carlson. CNN called Carlson the “right-wing extremist” who previously hosted Fox’s 8pm hour. CNN claimed that Carlson was “the top promoter” of “conspiracy” and “rhetoric.” Carlson’s program reportedly was one of the network’s highest-rated shows. However, CNN stated that “one of the 20 defamatory statements” that Fox allegedly made against Dominion Voting systems was on the Carlson show.

As Carlson departed Fox, CNN host Don Lemon was fired from his network, USA Today reported. The news of Lemon being fired broke the same day that Carlson’s departure from Fox was announced. Lemon was fired following remarks he made about the former United States ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, USA Today reported. Reportedly, the network “disputes the details” of Lemon’s termination. However, CNBC stated that Lemon’s termination was due to “sexist comments” and “mistreatment” of his colleagues.

Lemon announced on Twitter that he had been informed by his agent of the network’s decision to fire him on the morning of April 24. Lemon stated that he was “stunned” by CNN’s decision to communicate his firing through his agent, and not someone in management.

However, CNN CEO Chris Licht said that he “wished (Lemon) well” and that he would always be part of the “CNN family,” USA Today reported.
