(RepublicanDaily.org) – A lawyer associated with former President Donald Trump pledged “all-out war” if Trump was arrested, The Hill reported. This came as the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg appeared prepared to arrest Trump on March 21, The New York Times reported. The prosecutor reportedly “waded into” dangerous political waters as he prepared to make his decision about indicting the former president over the case of alleged hush money paid to former adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Trump is being investigated for falsified documents over the affair, ABC News reported.
As the prosecution continued, the GOP reacted. Senator Lindsey Graham (R.SC), a ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, claimed that a Trump arrest would “blow up our country,” The Hill reported. Graham explained that the Manhattan prosecutor before Alvin Bragg, Cyrus Vance, Jr., looked at the Stormy Daniels hush money payment case and then dismissed it. In Graham’s view, the case against Trump “is B.S.”
Trump took to Truth social media to protest the proceeding investigation. He claimed that, in all of American history, there had never been a less credible witness than Michael Cohen, a former attorney who is now a “convicted felon” and “fully disbarred.” Cohen was convicted for lying under oath to Congress, and was disbarred on February 26, 2019, Bloomberg Law reported.
Trump had previously called on his supporters to be ready to protest and to “take back the country.” As a possible arrest loomed, Trump supporters made their way to the Trump Tower and other locations in Manhattan to stage protests, ABC reported. The NYPD instructed every member of the police force to be in uniform on March 21 and to be ready to respond should there be any escalation at the scene of these protests. As an added precaution, the NYPD put up barricades around the Manhattan Criminal Court and the Trump Tower, ABC reported.
