(RepublicanDaily.org) – Former President Donald Trump’s staff moved boxes at the Mar-a-Lago estates in Palm Beach, Florida before a raid of the property by federal agents, a report from The Washington Post on Thursday, May 25 stated, Newsmax quoted. The report from The Washington Post explained that Trump employees had moved the boxes of documents a day before FBI agents raided the premises. The fact that employees moved the boxes was publicized as Special Counsel Jack Smith reportedly “neared a charging decision” in the federal probe of Trump, 1945 reported.
The Washington Post also wrote that Trump employees had conducted a “dress rehearsal” for moving the documents, even before the documents were subpoenaed in May 2022. Because of the new information about employees moving documents, the timeline for determining whether Trump “obstructed justice” reportedly could be moved.
The former president faces a federal probe finding the discovery of federally classified documents at his private residences after his term in the White House ended. Federal authorities reportedly searched the Mar-a-Lago premises in August of 2022. By Fall 2022, Smith was appointed to make a formal inquiry into the documents moved to Mar-a-Lago, The Hill reported.
A maintenance worker recalled being tasked with helping to move the boxes a day before the raid, The New York Times reported.
As the ongoing investigations into Trump continued, Trump’s legal team sought to appeal to Attorney General Merrick Garland directly to close the cases into the former president, CNN reported. The Trump legal team argued, at the time of this report, that the Justice Department should close the investigations into Trump and allow Trump’s 2024 election campaign to continue “without interference,” CNN reported. The legal team argued that the investigations were an overreach of authority and “prosecutorial misconduct.” Reportedly, a spokesperson for Trump stated that they hoped Garland would realize it was “the right thing” to close the investigations, CNN quoted. At the time of this report, it was not yet certain whether Garland would consider having a meeting to hear the Trump legal team’s arguments, CNN reported.
