(RepublicanDaily.org) – When former President Donald Trump met with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) earlier this year, some thought the rifts between the ex-president and the GOP had healed. It appears the truth is a little more complex. Trump does wish to maintain an active role within the party, but it seems he has not forgotten the snubs he received from some senior members.
This was made clear on Saturday, March 6, when a Trump adviser revealed the president has sent cease-and-desist letters to three GOP fundraising groups over their use of his name. The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), and the Republican National Committee (RNC), have continued to use Trump’s name in their collection efforts since he left office. This is despite the fact that the funds raised go to the same Republican Party whose senior members slammed the president during his impeachment.

The Republican Party needs to keep up positive relations with Trump if it wants to perform well in elections in 2022 and 2024. This episode has highlighted the fact that they may have work to do in this regard. As a businessman, he knows how important his brand is and it seems he wants more control over how the GOP uses his name.
