(RepublicanDaily.org) – President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump have both formally announced their re-election campaigns, leaving Americans to ponder the fact that both Trump and Biden are elderly candidates. Trump is 76 and Biden is 80, a fact that gives some Americans pause about their ability to perform in the nation’s highest executive office, Politico reported.
Biden is four years older than Trump, so the conversation about age has been more targeted toward Biden. Many Americans, including Democrats, do not wish for Biden to run for re-election. For some, his age is the greatest concern. If re-elected, Biden would be 86 years old at the end of his second term, Politico reported. This is reportedly nearly a “decade” older than the average male life expectancy in the United States.
Media polls estimated that “more than half” of Americans don’t want Biden to run for re-election. Some media outlets, including The Daily Mail, debated the poll numbers as being “brutal” with stats of 70% of the Americans surveyed voting “no” on the Biden 2024 campaign. Other polls from the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research shows that polled Democrats wanting Biden to seek re-election had dropped from 52% to 37% at the time of this report.
Among the Democrats surveyed, Biden’s age was a deciding factor. Those surveyed by the Associated Press stated that they “honestly think” he is too old to do the job for a second term. These polled Democrats called for someone “younger” to be in the White House. Even though they don’t want Biden to run a second time, Democrats reportedly “would support him,” WCVB Channel 5 Boston reported.
Despite these opinions, Biden is reportedly eager to take on the challenge of a second term, and told the public to “watch” as he ran for president a second time. Biden issued a campaign video that positions his agenda for 2024 as combating “Republican extremism.”
