Top Republican Fights Back Against Liberal Media

( – Since COVID-19 first began to spread, liberal media outlets have used the virus as a stick to beat conservative policymakers in a number of ways. Most recently, it’s been the vaccine rollout; many have suggested inoculations aren’t being fairly distributed.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) is the latest politician to attract this criticism. On Sunday, April 4, CBS’ “60 Minutes” aired a report on allegations he structured his vaccine rollout to benefit campaign donors, favoring wealthy communities and limiting the access of minorities. The show also covered speculation that DeSantis gave grocery chain Publix the exclusive right to distribute the vaccine in Palm Beach because the company donated $100,000 to his campaign.

When confronted by a reporter at an Orlando event, DeSantis dismissed the idea. He said he consulted with other concerned parties in the area and they collectively decided the “easiest thing” was to use Publix.

DeSantis has accepted bids from both Walmart, CVS, and others to distribute the vaccine in Florida.

DeSantis went on to accuse the reporter of not caring “about the facts.” Where the liberal media are concerned, that often seems like a fair criticism.
