Democrats Exposed After Racial Rant Leaked

(RepublicanDaily.org) – Liberal voters and politicians frequently accuse Conservatives of racism in their policies and positions. Recently, however, three Democratic officials in California landed themselves in hot water when their overtly insensitive remarks came to light through leaked audio.

The clips first emerged from an anonymous account on Reddit and were picked up in a report from the Los Angeles Times. The conversation was between three Democratic members of the Los Angeles City Council (Gil Cedillo, Kevin de León, and President Nury Martinez), and the president of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, Ron Herrera. Their discussion contained a number of discriminatory and racially-insensitive comments.

Martinez called another council member’s adopted Black son a “changuito,” a Spanish word meaning “little monkey.” When discussing Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón, she remarked, “he’s with the blacks.” De León compared the adopted child to a designer handbag.

Since the emergence of the scandal, Nury Martinez has submitted her resignation as the city council’s president. Her statement revealing the decision offered apologies to members of the black community.

De León also released an apology statement but has so far resisted calls for his resignation. Herrera released a statement apologizing for his failure to challenge his colleagues on their remarks. Cedillo claimed he did not remember the conversation when approached by the media.
