(RepublicanDaily.org) – Early reports have emerged indicating the FBI has initiated a criminal investigation into Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R). Anonymous insiders have accused Paxton of using his position to further the interests of a campaign donor.
On Wednesday, November 18, Associated Press published a report on the matter. It outlines the offenses allegedly committed by the attorney general, which include bribery and the breach of rules around the treatment of whistleblowers. Paxton reportedly committed these acts to help Nate Paul, an Austin property developer.
The full extent of the relationship between Paul and Paxton is unknown, though sources have confirmed that the developer donated $25,000 to the attorney general’s election campaign in 2018.
This is not the first time Ken Paxton has been implicated in a scandal. He faced indictment on charges of securities fraud in 2015, and the case has since encountered several procedural delays.
It's not every day that a state attorney general faces a criminal investigation, though for Texas' Ken Paxton (R), it's become amazingly common. https://t.co/I4BI5PeDuR

The FBI has not released many details about its investigation, so we should be cautious about assigning guilt. However, this may be another example of the corrupting influence of money in public affairs.
