Son of Hollywood Executive Charged With Murder

( – Samuel Haskell, a Hollywood director and son of famed producer and agent Sam Haskell, has been accused of murdering his wife and in-laws in a gruesome fashion – disposing of their cut-up remains in trash bags.

The 35-year-old Haskell was charged by authorities with three counts of murder – which are each attached with special allegations of multiple murders – after a worker he hired to take out the bags into the dumpster looked inside and saw chopped up human remains.

Police conducted a search of the suspect’s home, which he shared with his wife, 37-year-old Mei-Li Haskell, and their three children. Investigators found blood and other evidence that murders might have been committed there. Also missing were her parents, Gaoshan Li, 71-years-old, and Yanxiang Wang, 64-years-old, who were also living in the couple’s house in Tarzana, California, which is around 25 miles north of Los Angeles. Police believe Haskell killed them as well but have yet to find the complete bodies.

According to reports, Mei Li wanted to file for divorce but feared that the courts would side with her husband, who comes from an affluent and influential family in Hollywood. His father Sam Haskell, is a known Hollywood producer and agent, and has represented actors like George Clooney, Kathie Lee Gifford, Whoopi Goldberg, as well as country music star Dolly Parton. Mei Li apparently told friends that she was fearful that her husband would receive custody of their children, and had been wanting a separation for the last four years.

“Mei felt trapped,” a friend named “Jenny” told the publication The Daily Mail. “She was afraid that her husband would take away the kids,” she added. Jenny, who also claimed Mei Li told her that she was being physically abused by Samuel, declined to provide her last name, also fearful of retaliation from the Haskell family.

A judge denied the defendant’s petition for bail but granted a request for a postponed arraignment.
