Rashida Tlaib Will Not Denounce Hamas’ Murdering of Children

(RepublicanDaily.org) – Democratic Michigan Representative Rashida Tlaib continues to display the flag of Palestine outside her office in the Capitol, just as she continues to be largely mum on the atrocities Islamic militant group Hamas committed against Israel.

“I’m so sorry, I can’t right now,” Tlaib told Fox News, when she was asked to comment about the news that Hamas militants were mutilating children, including toddlers and infants.

Instead, she has attacked her critics instead, saying that their “bigoted assumptions” about her “faith and ethnicity” are to blame. Tlaib is the only Palestinian-American member of Congress, and has yet to issue any direct statement condemning the actions of Hamas in Israel. The closest she has come to such as statement is saying that she does not support the murder of civilians, “whether in Israel or Palestine.”

Tlaib is one of, if not the strongest critics of Israel in Congress – and arguably the entire U.S. government – and has called Israel an “apartheid” state multiple times in the past. In fact, when news of the Hamas massacre first came out, she blamed Israel for the atrocities, accusing the country of creating a “violent reality of living under siege, occupation,” at the same time calling for the U.S. to end its support of the Jewish state. Members of the “Squad”, a group of hyper-liberals in the House, have also reiterated Tlaib’s call for an end to the U.S. support of Israel, just as other members of Congress have urged the U.S. government to fast-track its aid to Israel.

The lawmaker’s actions, as well the continued display of the Palestinian flag outside her office – although she uses a different flag than the one Hamas uses – has prompted Republican Ohio Representative Max Miller to push for a ban on the use of all foreign flags in Congress.

“The halls of Congress belong to America,” Miller said in a statement posted online. He added that Congress should only have flags that “embody our great nation” and that do otherwise was “silliness.”

Tlaib has since called for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
