Ramaswamy Has a New Plan: To Fire Federal Workers

(RepublicanDaily.org) – Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy apparently has not enough antagonized enough people after he revealed that part of his plan to cut down on government spending if ever he is elected will be to “instantly fire 50% of federal bureaucrats.”

The biotech entrepreneur, said that he would base the massive layoff on federal employees’ Social Security numbers – “if your (Social Security number) ends in an odd number, you’re fired, Ramaswamy said.

He claimed that the move would be harmless – “Absolutely *nothing* will break as a result,” Ramaswamy said. He also said that his plan is foolproof, since fired employees would be prevented from suing the government for their termination since ““mass layoffs are exempt” from civil service rules.

And that’s not all. The presidential hopeful also said that he plans to dissolve several government agencies and offices, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Education, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Food and Nutrition Service, as well as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. He said that the functions of these agencies could be divvied out to other government departments.

Ramaswamy has lost his momentum in the polls after coming in strong during the first Republican presidential primary debate. Observers initially predicted he could outpace and outdo Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, but he has since lost steam and is now fourth in the polls for the Republican presidential primary. Poll aggregator FiveThirtyEight puts Ramaswamy’s support among GOP voters at a paltry 5.0%, a far cry from former president Donald Trump’s support, which stands at an average of 58.9%. Governor DeSantis is still trailing in second place with 14.5% support, while former South Carolina governor and former U.S. ambassador to the United Nation Nikki Haley comes in third with 9.2% support.

Ramaswamy has become infamous for offending multiple personalities in the course of his campaign. He has had heated exchanges with other candidates on the debates, but has also upset the likes of rapper Eminem, whose record label sent a cease-and-desist letter to the candidate after he burst out in a campaign rally singing one of Eminem’s hit songs.

Ramaswamy is also engaged in a feud with Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel, whom he has accused of dropping the ball in the last years which he claims has led to the string of Republican defeats in recent elections. He has also launched a petition to have McDaniel (who has reportedly called him an “*******” in private) removed as GOP chairperson.
