Pro-Palestinian Protestor Kills 69-Year-Old Jewish Man at Rally

(RepublicanDaily.org) – A 69-year-old Jewish man died after a confrontation with a pro-Palestinian rallyist in Los Angeles recently.

Paul Kessler, who was attending a rally in support of Israel and Jews at the time. Witnesses say that he was involved in a “physical altercation” with a pro-Palestinian counter-protester, who reportedly struck Kessler in the head, causing him to fall and hit his head on the pavement. Paramedics responded to a call for help, but Kessler eventually died due to his head injuries.

The incident occurred in the Thousand Oaks area, which is around 40 miles west of central Los Angeles.

Authorities say that an investigation into what they are calling an “isolated incident” is underway. Police have talked to and search the home of a suspect in the incident, no arrests have been made as of press time. Law enforcement, which has also not released the name of the suspect under investigation, said that they are not yet ruling out the possibility that Kessler’s death could be considered as a “hate crime.”

In a press conference, Ventura County Sheriff Jim Fryhoff, said that the suspect was a 50-year old Moorpark resident who was “advocating for Palestine”. Police do not have a video of the incident and are asking people who have footage of the altercation to come forward. The video would be especially helpful to police as they have received conflicting accounts from witnesses, who mostly were either pro-Israel or pro-Palestinian protesters. The sheriff has also asked the public to remain “calm, peaceful and patient” while the police continues its investigation.

The Medical Examiner’s Office of Ventura County has ruled Kessler’s death a homicide resulting from blunt force trauma to the head. The medical examiner’s office has clarified that a homicide does not necessarily mean that a crime has been committed, only that the death was caused by another person. However, the medical examiner also reported that the victim sustained injuries to his face that “could be consistent with a blow to the face.”
