President and Melania Trump Test Positive for COVID - Will Quarantine at White House

(RepublicanDaily.org) – On Friday, October 2, President Donald Trump announced via Twitter that he and his wife Melania have contracted COVID-19. The pair underwent tests after Hope Hicks, an aide of the president who frequently travels with him, tested positive on Thursday.

Both Donald and Melania Trump will quarantine at the White House. The president’s physician has stated he should be able to carry out most of his duties from there as normal. He also said the POTUS and first lady were both in good condition despite the diagnosis. The FLOTUS tweeted Friday morning she was experiencing mild symptoms, but feeling good.

It’s not yet clear what bearing this development will have on the remaining presidential debates. The next event is scheduled to take place in Miami, on October 15.

COVID-19 has the potential to be a very debilitating condition. Ordinarily, people would put aside their political differences after an event like this to wish the affected parties well. Unfortunately, that’s not what unfolded today, as Twitter and other platforms erupted with a stream of negativity about the president.

Such commentary is disappointing, but not surprising. Nonetheless, Americans of good conscience should all be able to put aside their political differences today in wishing Donald and Melania Trump a quick recovery.
