New CNN Streaming Service Is About to Shut Down

( – Left-wing mainstream news outlet CNN has had a difficult few months. Key personnel have left the network under embarrassing circumstances, and ratings have tanked. Now, its new streaming service is set to go out of commission after just a few weeks.

On Thursday, April 21, CNN Business announced parent company Warner Bros. Discovery had decided to discontinue the CNN+ streaming service. It will stop hosting content on April 30, and any users who paid fees for the platform will receive prorated refunds. CNN+ has been in operation for less than a month, having launched on March 29 of this year.

Discovery’s head of streaming, JB Perrette, claimed in a statement that this move comes as part of a decision to house all Warner Bros. Discovery streaming offerings under a larger single platform.

However, is that all there is to the story? According to a Forbes report from earlier this year, the station’s ratings have plummeted in recent months. Additionally, the network has been mired in controversy, with former CNN President Jeff Zucker forced to resign over an undisclosed relationship with an executive colleague. Previously, lead anchor Chris Cuomo was fired over his efforts to assist his brother, former Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, deal with a sexual misconduct scandal.

Could this be the beginning of the end for CNN?
