National Archives Missed Deadline To Give House Oversight Biden Docs Info

( – The National Archives missed its deadline to send the House Oversight committee materials associated with the Biden document investigation, Axios reported.

The National Archives was supposed to produce the requested documents to the House Oversight Committee on January 25, a committee spokesperson told Axios. The spokesperson explained that Chairman Comer’s request “still stands” and that Comer anticipates moving forward with a NARA interview soon.

The Republican-led oversight committee launched an investigation into the Biden documents this month after the White House officials confirmed the find. Classified documents were discovered at the Penn Biden Center in November. Additional documents have been uncovered in Biden’s private Wilmington, Delaware, residence.

Fox News said that NARA’s failure to meet the January 25 deadline was “blowing off,” the House Oversight Committee. Representative Comer said this was “very disappointing,” Fox News reported.

Classified documents scandals have made headlines throughout the past few weeks. The FBI has launched an investigation into the Trump administration, after classified documents were discovered at Trump’s private Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.

Another set of classified documents was discovered in the Indiana home of former vice president Mike Pence. Pence has been under scrutiny because he told reporters earlier that he had not taken any classified documents from his time in office.

Representative Jim Jordan told Fox News that Republicans expect “equal treatment under the law” as politics heat up. Jordan pointed out that, while Trump and Pence reported their possession of classified documents, the Biden lawyers had a “shared understanding with the DOJ” to keep his document scandal quiet.

Jordan noted that the Biden lawyers knew about the classified documents in November before the Congressional mid-term elections took place. The representative was critical of the fact that the lawyers knew about the documents and “withheld information” from the American people.
