Multiple Injured After Shooting Breaks Out at Party

(RepublicanDaily.org) – One person was dead and at least 10 others were reported injured following a shooting at a party in downtown St. Louis on Sunday, June 18. The St. Louis Police Department released a statement that the shooting took place at 14th and Washington Avenue in downtown St. Louis at approximately 1:03 am, the morning of June 18.

A juvenile offender has been arrested in connection with the shooting. Because of the shooter’s age, their name has not been released to the media.

Including the victim who died, eight of the 11 victims were minors. The victims ranged in age from 15 to 19.

Local media reported on June 20 that an additional “four suspects” were sought in connection with the shooting spree.

The victim who died has been identified as Makao Moore, a 17-year-old boy. The dead teenager’s name was confirmed by St. Louis Police Department Sgt. Charles Wall.

The murdered boy’s family spoke to reporters following the event, explaining that they had not known the boy would be out late and that they regretted allowing him to attend the party.

The boy’s father, Darryl Moore, said that he was “numb” and did not know how to feel following his son’s death. Moore expressed how “crazy” it was that he had been talking to the boy shortly before, and the “next minute” he was gone.

Makao Moore was killed at the scene of the shooting. The boy was the youngest of 13 children. If he had lived, he would have been a junior at St. Louis’ Sumner High School.

The police stated that there was no evidence Makao had ever been armed or had exchanged any gunfire with the shooters during the incident that led to his death.

Among the victims, a 17-year-old girl, whose name has not been released to the media, attempted to run away from the scene. As a result, she was trampled by the other teens fleeing the scene, and her spinal cord was “severely injured” as a result. The other 10 victims of the violent outbreak were injured by gunshots.
