Koch Network Pledges To Back a Republican Candidate Other Than Donald Trump

(RepublicanDaily.org) – The Koch Network, a Republican-leaning political funding machine, has pledged to back any Republican candidate other than former president Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election race, Time Magazine reported.

The Koch Network was established by Republican billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch. In a memo published through Americans For Prosperity, the major political organization arm of the network, the Koch brothers signaled that they would endorse an alternative candidate, and noted that they believed a new leader is needed, Bloomberg reported.

The letter, penned by Americans For Prosperity CEO, Emily Seidel, said that the “best thing” for America would be to have a president who represents “a new chapter” in 2025, Politico reported.

Joe Scarborough, the host of The Morning Joe show, recalled on a recent broadcast the significance of the Koch Brothers’ influence over Republican candidacies. Scarborough explained that, in 2014, the Koch Brothers got involved in Republican candidacies, following unlikely Republican losses by Tea Party-affiliated candidates.

Political analysts have expected that the Koch brothers, because they are highly influential in determining the success of a candidate, will have a heavy impact on the Trump 2024 campaign.

Trump has previously called the Koch brothers a “total joke” in Tweets, and said that he “doesn’t need their money or bad ideas,” CBS This Morning reported in a broadcast aired on July 31, 2018. In 2018, this led media analysts to question whether or not Trump had “made a mistake” by alienating the Koch brothers.

The Washington Post reported on July 31, 2018, that the Trump and Koch brothers feud exposed a rift between the “populist and establishment” GOP. On February 5, The Washington Post reported that the Koch brothers have chosen to back a candidate after “sitting out” of recent primaries, in a move that NBC News called “drawing battle lines” against the former president.

Political analysts considered this move that could “significantly reshape” the GOP, CNN Politics wrote.
