(RepublicanDaily.org) – President Joe Biden recently got the chance to make his first nomination to the US Supreme Court, selecting Ketanji Brown Jackson. However, Jackson had to undergo a confirmation process in an evenly-split Senate before confirmation. It appears Democratic leaders in the chamber are intent on preserving her from excessive scrutiny.
During the hearing, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) pushed Jackson on her record of leniency in relation to child sex offenders. The judge has a marked track record of light sentencing when it comes to crimes of this nature, often significantly undercutting federal sentencing guidelines for certain offenses. However, when Cruz attempted to press the candidate for answers on this subject, Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, cut him off.
She was about to be held accountable for questionable past rulings on child pornographers … Until the chairman intervened.

Cruz emphasized that his line of questioning was important for the American people to hear. Durbin still refused to let him speak, reminding him that his time was up. Cruz retorted that he had only run out of time because Durbin had interrupted him. Durbin refused to accept this argument, and Jackson did not have to provide a response to Cruz’s question.
Do you think Dick Durbin and other Democrats are trying to protect Ketanji Brown Jackson to ensure her nomination succeeds?
