(RepublicanDaily.org) – Former President Donald Trump’s announcement that he plans to run again in 2024 has spurred other Republicans to consider their own options. Now, former National Security Advisor John Bolton is signaling a potential White House bid. Once among the most hawkish members of the Trump administration, Bolton fell out of favor with his former boss long ago.

Last weekend, following Elon Musk’s release of files showing how Twitter had colluded with the Biden campaign to bury the story of Hunter Biden’s laptop, Trump called for the “termination” of parts of the US Constitution. Many Republicans have objected to the former president’s suggestion. Now, Bolton, who has served every GOP president since Ronald Reagan and was Trump’s national security advisor from 2018-19, has joined the call.
In a December 5 appearance on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” Bolton said Trump’s words were an “existential threat” to the republic. He questioned whether the former president could sincerely take the oath of office, with its pledge to preserve the Constitution, and added, “You can’t have this kind of approach … This is foundational to the republic.”
Bolton said the “one thing” that could make him run for president is to “make it clear” that the former commander-in-chief “is unacceptable as the Republican nominee.” Will GOP voters agree, though?
