(RepublicanDaily.org) – The international influence of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) grows by the day. Despite overwhelming evidence of the Asian giant’s perpetration of human rights abuses on its people, many major corporations and public figures remain silent on the topic, or even speak positively about the regime. CNN analyst Jake Tapper is now addressing the subject.
On Sunday, December 5, Tapper criticized major players in Hollywood, Silicon Valley, and the world of sports for their willingness to ignore China’s human rights record. His comments come following the disappearance of Chinese tennis player Peng Shuai after she accused former Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli of sexual assault. There have also been concerns about the country’s treatment of its Uyghur minority for a number of months, with reports of Uyghurs undergoing forced “re-education,” and even genocide.
Tapper accused firms like Disney of behaving as if these things don’t happen because they’re so preoccupied with making “Chinese cash.”
“There is no amount of money that can buy enough soap to wash that blood off their hands.”

Condemnation of China’s misdeeds, and the corporate world’s tendency to turn a blind eye to them, is nothing new among Conservatives. However, liberal commentators like Jake Tapper have been far less likely to speak out on the topic. Is this a sign that times are changing?
