(RepublicanDaily.org) – A fractured vertebra on the neck and a deep cut above the right eye: These are the injuries prosecutors say that former WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick suffered at the hands of her boyfriend Kevin Porter Jr., who plays in the NBA as a guard for the Houston Rockets.
Porter has been arrested for the alleged assault, which happened at the Millennium Hilton New York Hotel, posh four-star hotel in New York City. Sources from the police said that Porter repeatedly struck Gondrezick with a closed fist and attempted to choke her, only stopping when the former WNBA player ran out bloodied into the hotel’s hallway to seek help.
Porter has been charged with felony assault and strangulation, and has been released after he posted bail, which was set at $75,000 in cash or a $100,000 bond. He has pleaded not guilty to all accusations, but has been ordered to stay away from Gondrezick.
The alleged attack is reportedly not the first time the NBA star was violent towards Gondrezick, according to Mirah Curzer, assistant district attorney for Manhattan. The ADA said that there have been multiple assaults in the past, including an incident where Porter crashed his car into Gondrezick’s vehicle. The two began dating in February of last year. Porter himself has also had previous run-ins with the law – he was arrested in late 2020 when police found a loaded firearm and marijuana in his car after he crashed it. The charges against him in that case were eventually dropped.
Porter’s team, the Houston Rockets, said that their organization is currently investigating and collecting information about the incident, but offered no other comment on the matter.
Meanwhile, Robert Hantman, who is Gondrezick’s legal counsel, told news outlets that his client has not yet given any formal statement to law enforcement. He also said that much of what is being attributed to his client are “misleading and inaccurate,” and that Gondrezick is asking for privacy and for the public and the media to avoid speculating on the incident.
