(RepublicanDaily.org) – Former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s name came up in a recent hearing on the Durham Report in Congress. Special Counsel John Durham appeared before the House Judiciary Committee to give his full account of the inquiry he was tasked with making into the FBI’s investigation of former President Donald Trump’s alleged relationships with Russian nationals.
In his testimony, Durham explained that he believed the FBI had “ignored” the scandal surrounding Clinton’s handling of emails during her time as former President Barack Obama’s Secretary of State in favor of investigating Trump. Durham also explained that the effort to investigate Trump’s alleged Russia involvement had been linked back to the Clinton campaign.
In the wake of Durham’s report, the FBI “apologized” for choosing to go ahead with the investigation. Analysis of the Durham report found that Durham discovered the FBI had been “willing” to use politically motivated sources found in the now-debunked “Steele Dossier” to drive investigations even when they had no merit in regular Bureau processes.
Durham also argued that the FBI had failed to “sufficiently scrutinize” the information that came into its possession about Trump. The special counsel argued that the FBI should have applied the same standard to the Trump and Clinton campaign investigations, but failed to do so.
As the Durham testimony reportedly mentioned Clinton, it stirred up some media debate over Clinton’s conduct during the 2016 presidential campaign era. In recent reports, former President Donald Trump has also put the spotlight on Clinton, questioning why she was not indicted for the email scandal that surrounded her in 2016.
The Durham Report concluded that the FBI had formed a “seriously flawed” case when it decided to investigate Trump for alleged Russia collusion during the 2016 presidential campaign.
In 2016, Clinton answered FBI questions regarding her using a private email server while serving in the State Department. Clinton, who was then the State Secretary, underwent a three-hour “voluntary” interview where she answered questions about her email practices during her time in office as Secretary of State.
