Harris Tries to Take Credit for Donald Trump's Actions

(RepublicanDaily.org) – The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) came into being in March 2020 as part of the CARES Act. Then-President Donald Trump signed the legislation, along with the PPP funding, into law, preserving the financial security of millions of Americans at an unprecedentedly difficult time for the nation and the world. That’s why many commentators are scratching their heads at Vice President Kamala Harris’ suggestion that the Biden administration should get the credit for the program.

On Tuesday, December 14, Vice President Harris joined Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen at a Treasury Department event to announce a new program of loans for small and minority-owned businesses. The scheme will reportedly spend $8.7 billion.

During her address to the crowd, Harris talked about the role of small business owners in society and the assistance they had received from the government. At one point, she referred to “what we did with the PPP program.” You can see and hear for yourself in the video in the tweet below.

Harris was a sitting US senator at the time the bill passed, so she could defend her position by saying she was involved as a lawmaker. However, as she was speaking in her capacity as vice president, it’s unlikely many listeners will perceive it that way.
