Facebook Uses Letter of Wuhan Lab Donor to Censor Leak Theory

(RepublicanDaily.org) – The growing push behind the theory that COVID-19 originated in a lab leaves many people red-faced. This time last year, public figures happily denounced the lab leak theory as a mere conspiracy; now, it appears to have real merit. On Wednesday, May 27, President Joe Biden even ordered an investigation into the virus’s origin. What’s also becoming apparent is the disturbing effort tech companies made to suppress this idea, and the means they used, before Covid’s origins was fully explored.

Facebook, which censored any posts related to the lab leak theory until recently, hires “independent” fact-checkers for guidance when deciding what kind of content to allow on its platform. The fact-checkers who dealt with the lab leak theory used a letter written by Peter Daszak for guidance. The letter states Covid occurred naturally and to think otherwise is a conspiracy theory.  Daszak is the head of EcoHealth Alliance, a nonprofit that has funded gain-of-function coronavirus research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Using a letter written by a financial donor to censor information, clearly, is a significant conflict of interest. It also seems to be further evidence (not that more is needed) that Facebook cares far more about peddling agendas than hosting free and fair discussions.
