(RepublicanDaily.org) – Twitter owner Elon Musk hopes to fight Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in the near future, but Musk’s father says it’s a terrible idea. According to Musk’s dad Errol, his son would be in a “no win situation” if he goes ahead with the “crazy” cage match against Zuckerberg, because if Musk wins, the public and media will react to him as a “bully,” and if he loses, he’ll be drowned in “humiliation.”
Seventy-seven-year-old Erroll Musk says his son is engaging in “high school behavior” and that Zuckerberg has also made a mistake by taking the bait. Both tech billionaires have reportedly agreed to a high-stakes fight in Las Vegas in the UFC cage with pay per view tickets at $100 each and the upwards of $1 billion in projected proceeds going to charity. Musk’s mother Maye has expressed similar feelings, stating her preference that her son and Zuckerberg call off the fight.
Musk had a difficult childhood, including enduring bullying and allegedly abusive behavior from his father. Errol, who went on to have a child with his own stepdaughter after Musk’s birth, has said Musk is like an immature “baby” in the past. He also claimed that Musk is a ridiculous obese person who should take diet pills.
At one point, Musk was assaulted for defending a black classmate from racist taunts. In another incident, he was beaten and pushed down the stairs and hospitalized for two weeks. Musk does not have a close relationship with Errol, but does enjoy a closer relationship with his mother.
Manny Pacquiao’s fight against Floyd Mayweather in 2015 drew 4.6 million viewers, while a Musk vs. Zuckerberg fight could draw up to an estimated 25 million. UFC promoter Dana White says this fight “would break all pay-per-view records.” The fight would also potentially launch Twitter and Facebook into profitable livestreaming models and greatly expand their user base, according to some experts.
Although the fight is not yet official, betting site DraftKings currently has Zuckerberg ahead in the odds. Zuckerberg has been training in jiu jitsu for several years; it is unclear what Musk’s formal fighting background consists in.
