Elon Musk Meets With GOP, Biden Officials To Discuss E.V. Production

(RepublicanDaily.org) – Elon Musk, the billionaire founder of Tesla and SpaceX, and owner of Twitter met with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, sparking political speculation about their conversation, The New York Times reported.

Musk met with House Speaker McCarthy and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries on January 26 to discuss “making Twitter fair to both parties,” Politico reported. Musk likewise wished the House Speaker a “happy birthday.”

Political chatter surrounded Musk’s Capitol Hill visit. Musk reportedly “dropped by” McCarthy’s office. McCarthy told reporters that he and Musk have been friends for some time.

Despite the political buzz, an aide of Minority Leader Jeffries said that the Musk meeting was not planned, Politico reported. Jeffries “bumped into” Musk after another meeting, Politico correspondent Sarah Ferris tweeted.

Musk has also met with Representatives Jim Jordan and James Comer on January 27 The Washington Post reported. Comer is the House Oversight Committee chairman, while Jordan is chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

Musk met with Jordan once on January 26 as well, a source told Axios.

On January 27, Musk also had a meeting with top Biden officials in Washington on January 27, Reuters reported.

The billionaire met to discuss how Tesla and the Democratic President Joe Biden could “work together” to advance electric vehicle production and “advance” the electrification of America.

Musk reportedly met with Biden administration senior advisor John Podesta and Mitch Landrieu, head of infrastructure spending oversight.

A witness saw Musk, Podesta, and Landrieu enter the building that houses Tesla’s Washington lobby, as well as the Center For American Progress, Reuters reported.

Biden and Musk have reportedly been at odds over political and labor issues. In February 2022, Musk accused Biden of “ignoring Tesla,” in favor of the legacy automakers, CNBC reported. Musk said in 2022 that, if he were invited to the White House, he “would do the right thing” and that lawmakers “had nothing to worry about.”
