DeSantis 2024 Anticipated Campaign Potential Cools Down as Trump Dominates Polls

(RepublicanDaily.org) – The Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been a potential contender for the Republican presidential nomination, leading other possible challengers of former President Donald Trump in recent polls. However, Trump’s recent increase in poll numbers sees DeSantis’s bid beginning to “cool off,” media analysts stated.

Some media analysts have determined that Trump plotted a recent spike in support around DeSantis’s trip to Washington, D.C., Rolling Stone wrote. Media analysts claimed to have insider knowledge of the Trump campaign circle, writing that Trump’s team had a “belly laugh” over Ron DeSantis and his team, referring to them as “amateurs.” The Trump inner circle reportedly worked on gaining support from Florida’s Republican backers “for weeks” before the official announcement was released.

While the original plan had reportedly been to release them all at once on either Thursday or Friday, the decision was finally made to release them in “drips.” DeSantis’ humiliation reportedly extended beyond Florida, as Republican Congressman Lance Goodman of Texas, who met with DeSantis previously, went on to back Donald Trump. Gooden’s team released a formal statement that, while he had a positive meeting with DeSantis, he had ultimately chosen to support Trump.

Lawmakers from Florida who put their support behind Trump included Representatives Greg Steube, John Rutherford, and Brian Mast. Reportedly, these representatives heard from DeSantis’ political representatives, who urged them not to put their support behind Trump.

Despite the cooling down, Republican mega-donor Ken Langone is “eager” to back DeSantis for president in 2024, The Washington Post reported.

Earlier on in the prospect of DeSantis’ 2024 bid, The Tampa Bay Times explained that DeSantis has faced setbacks due to what was at that time anticipated increased support for Trump’s political narrative from his party base after Trump’s then pending indictment by the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Trump has used this boost to likewise “relentlessly” attack DeSantis, tagging him with the unflattering monikers “Ron Sanctimonious” and “Meatball Ron.” Donors reportedly are questioning if DeSantis has the political chops to take on the former president’s highly competitive platform.
