Congress Members Distance Themselves From CCP Group After Exposé

( – The Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) nefarious influence is no secret. Countless reports have linked the despotic government to various atrocities, including the suppression of the Uyghur minority and the control of the media to spin its propaganda narratives. However, not everyone realizes the CCP has hidden links to many groups around the globe. Now, a number of US lawmakers are backing away from a shady group following revelations about its ties to China.

The Humpty Dumpty Institute (HDI) is a secretive nonprofit of which Mark Epstein (brother to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein) was once the leader. An array of influential figures in the US, including lawmakers from both major parties and federal government officials, were members of the group until recently. Following the discovery that the Humpty Dumpty Institute has ties to the CCP, as well as the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and a Beijing-based think tank known as the Taihe Institute, several GOP figures have distanced themselves from the group.

Mark Meadows, who served as chief of staff in former President Donald Trump’s administration, was among the first departed members to blow the whistle on the controversial group. Others, including Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD), claimed not to know they were listed as board members by the group.

Then there are the lawmakers, including Reps. Maxine Waters (D-CA) and Mark Pocan (D-WI), who have failed to respond to queries about their involvement with the group.
