(RepublicanDaily.org) – The situation on our southern border has been deteriorating for a while now. However, it’s only recently that concrete statistics about the crisis have begun to emerge.
On Tuesday, April 13, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released a report on the arrest, in the Rio Grande Valley Sector, of two “criminal aliens.” This term describes an undocumented migrant who has been convicted of a crime unrelated to immigration. In this case, the two detainees (one Mexican, the other Salvadoran) were convicted of murder and MS-13 membership, respectively.
Further on in the report, it’s revealed that agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector have arrested 1,625 criminal aliens this year, compared to just 338 this time last year. That’s a 380% increase.
Chief Patrol Agent of the US Border Patrol in the Rio Grande Valley Sector Brian Hastings shared another troubling statistic about the number of sex offenders being arrested. It is reportedly up 148% over last year.

Since the onset of this crisis, we’ve heard a lot about overcrowded detention centers. However, the problem of undetected border crossings could be just as serious, even if it hasn’t made itself fully apparent yet.
